You can dress yourself and a daughter in one stop at Teak & Ivy, a Centre Street boutique that pairs contemporary women's labels with a full girls' and tween department. Founder Kelly tells the backstory on the shop's About page. She worked at Limited Too through high school and college helping mothers style their daughters, later sewed and embroidered children's clothes to sell at festivals, and eventually moved her family from Georgia to the island, where she'd walk past the downtown shops and picture owning one. The name is her image for confidence that lasts and keeps growing.
The labels on the online shop give a clear picture of the mix:
- Denim from Paige, Mother, Citizens of Humanity and Good American
- Prints from Farm Rio, plus SPANX pants and joggers
- Swimwear from Beach Riot and L*Space
- A large Kendra Scott jewelry selection, along with handbags and sunglasses
- Shoes from Gola, Havaianas, Steve Madden and Dolce Vita
- Girls' clothing, swim and accessories from Mayoral, Iscream, Vignette and Snapper Rock
There's also a small in-house line, Capsule by Teak and Ivy.
The store is at 311 Centre Street, a few doors from Color It Green in the 300 block. If your crew includes babies or younger boys, Monkey Barrel of Amelia is around the corner on South Third Street, and for dressier Southern resort labels, Pearl is two blocks up Centre. New arrivals post to teakandivy.com, and the store's phone is (904) 310-9517.
