If you want mini golf with some history to it, Putt-Putt Amelia Island has been at 6 North Fletcher Avenue, at Main Beach, since 1959. The business says it's the longest continually operating franchise of Putt-Putt Golf Courses of America, and it bills itself as Putt-Putt right on the ocean.
There are two authentic Putt-Putt courses, 36 holes in all, set up as par-2 competition golf. That's a different game from a themed adventure course, and the course hosts Professional Putters Association tournaments every March, with play open to anyone who wants to enter. Tickets are priced by age, a ticket can be shared, and unused games never expire, so you don't lose anything if the afternoon gets cut short.

- Posted regular hours, weather permitting, are Friday from 4 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with Monday through Thursday closed. Check the hours page before you go.
- The café serves Nathan's hot dogs, State Fair corn dogs, Hershey ice cream and Kona Ice.

The course sits a short walk up Fletcher from Main Beach Park, so a round fits before or after time on the sand, and the Main Beach area page covers the neighborhood around it. For waterfalls, tunnels and music instead of competition holes, Island Falls Adventure Golf is on Sadler Road in the middle of the island.
